There are at least two major adult female characters in the show. Both are stay at home moms. No, they are not even different from each other. They both provide their family with warmth and love. Yes, their personalities are different, but their parenting styles aren’t remarkably dissimilar. So, it makes no f’ing sense as to why neither woman is shown balancing parenthood and a job. Both gay men work, why can’t at least one woman show that side of reality? [Edit: One actually is a stay at home dad, but surprise: its the most flamboyant one. Which isn’t even my opinion, as it says so in his bio on wikipedia. Who ever writes this show is really in love with stay at home parents.]
Honestly, the show is pretty shitty to begin with. All of the “cool” things they say they have are really hidden behind hurtful stereotypes. Don’t even get me started on how offensive I find the gay couple. They are every gay stereotype wrapped in one huge pink ribbon.
For the record, I’m not against stay at home parents. My mother quit being a teacher to raise me and my sister, but once all your kids are in school, the whole idea becomes kind of pointless. If you can afford to keep one parent at home, then you can send them into the workforce and hire a maid. My mother was also a single parent and I respect families who have the luxury to choose that a parent will stay at home, but I don’t have to understand it.
